Walters moved to its present site after Cache Creek flooded the original 1901 townsite in 1902, and the county courthouse two blocks off Broadway still runs on that same higher ground. Cotton, wheat, and cattle built the town; oil supply work followed in the late 1910s. A lot of what's still standing near downtown dates to that boom, which means older wiring and plumbing sit behind walls that look fine until a pipe lets go or a summer storm finds a weak spot in a roof that's been patched more than once.
If a listing shows a Walters address for us, it's wrong. Crews stage out of the Lawton satellite and Elgin headquarters and drive down Highway 5 or 277/281 to reach a loss. Same company, same owner, same phone every time: (580) 574-2383, day or night.
