Duncan grew up fast after oil wells opened in southeastern Stephens County in 1918, but the town made a point of prohibiting shacks and other boomtown building, which is part of why it has such a solid stock of 1920s-era brick commercial buildings downtown today. Erle P. Halliburton founded his oil well cementing company here that same decade, and Halliburton is still the town's largest employer. That mix of established residential neighborhoods and a genuine commercial and industrial base means claims here run a wider range than in the smaller towns around it, from a homeowner's roof to a landlord's rental to a small business's storefront.
We don't print a Duncan address. Crews come from Elgin headquarters, about thirty minutes north on Highway 81, and from the Lawton satellite. Call (580) 574-2383, staffed 24/7.
