Cache is the fastest-growing small town in Comanche County, going from roughly 1,000 residents in 1960 to nearly 3,000 today, and it shows: newer subdivisions sit next to older farmhouses close to West Cache Creek, for which the town is named. Quanah Parker's Star House once stood a few miles northeast of here before it was relocated into town. Being tucked against the Wichita Mountains Wildlife Refuge means Cache sees both sides of the risk: grass and wildfire exposure on the dry side of the year, and creek and flash flooding when the mountains dump rain fast.
